Sand Sculpture to Benefit Outer Banks Hospital

Every summer, thousands of sun worshipers flock to the Outer Banks to loft colorful kites into the favorable winds, lie in the soft sand and soak up the sun on the many attractive beaches that make up this vacation hot spot. Unfortunately, some of these beach-goers will take home unwanted souvenirs –nasty sunburns and as a bonus, heightened risk of skin cancer. To help bring awareness to the dangers of skin cancer and promote some easy steps anyone can take to prevent it, your friends at Peace Frogs are hosting a HUGE awareness event. Peace Frogs, along with Kitty Hawk Sports, Brew-Thru, OBX and Panama Jack Sun and Skin Care, Outer Banks Hospital, Beach 104.1, and Jockeys Ridge Crossing Shopping Center are sponsoring Team Sandtastic and the sculpture of a 25 ton Peace Frog. The sculpting starts Wednesday and will be finished by Friday. There will be games and sand sculpturing events to entertain, as well as the opportunity to learn about skin cancer and its prevention. Team Sandtastic holds a current Guinness World Record in both sand & snow sculpture and a World Championship title in sand. Peace Frogs has designed a special shirt to commemorate this event. All of the sales of a special Peace Frogs shirt, and a portion of Brew Thru t-shirts will be contributed to the Outer Banks Hospital’s Cancer Resource Center in support of its services and programs.
